Kicking

  • Have your weight forward, control the drop of the ball, position the leg ready to kick.
  • Eyes must stay on ball, time your leg swing in direction you want to kick.
  • Ensure your shoulders are relaxed; have soft hands and the ball pointing directly up and down.
  • Contact the ball low to ensure maximum accuracy.
  • Follow through in the direction of the kick.
  • Complete Kick

 

Common Errors

  • Head up - means you cannot see the ball nor judge where you want tokick it accurately.

  • Weight back - means your have less control of where the ball ends up. Generally means you kick a lot higher.

 

Kicking Drills

  • Often in a game you are not standing square. Try standing on a 45 degree angle and kicking to a friend across your body.
  • Concentrate on the small details like hands, balance, contact. The more you do it, the better your kicking will become.
